Picton to Wellington

We had an uneventful drive from Christchurch to Picton, punctuated by a stop in Cheviot for lunch and another in Ward for a drink. The room at the Mercure we had booked was cheap and had a lovely sunny balcony. Next morning we had brunch before heading over to the ferry terminal.

It was a beautiful day as we left Picton, and Cook Strait was almost as smooth as the sounds.

Waikawa Bay looked as gorgeous as ever, and then we had a bloke beside us explaining to his daughter exactly when we hit the Tory Channel, and what all the various landmarks were! We heard a familiar voice behind us and said hello to Mayor Bob and Jo as they walked past. Later they came back and sat down beside us. We had a great old chat about all sorts of things, including earthquakes and back problems.

Once in Wellington we found are way to Jane and Keith's home up on the hill.
